Jana Reichman

Owner, Teacher, Catalyst

For more than thirty years, I've had the privilege of working with children — fourteen of those as a private school educator, and the rest in every corner of learning a child can find themselves in. I've sat beside the reader who was sure they would never get it, the math student who'd been told they just "weren't a math person," and the quiet kid who needed someone to notice they were trying.

What I've learned is that each student is just waiting for the right person, the right pace, and the right kind of patience. My job is to be that person — to slow things down, to find the door into a subject that finally makes sense, and to keep showing up until success breeds joy and more success.

My favorite part of teaching has never changed. It's the moment a child sits up a little straighter because they just did something they didn't think they could do. It is watching a student feel proud of themselves — especially in a subject that used to make them feel defeated — is the reason I started this work, and it's the reason I'm still doing it.

From families & students

Mrs. Reichman truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond to help them build confidence and succeed! During a challenging year as our son's learning disability emerged, she guided us to valuable resources, supported our family, and became our son's biggest encourager.

Mrs. R. is wonderful! Our daughter genuinely looks forward to working with her because she makes learning engaging, encouraging, and fun. Her positive, high-energy personality creates such a motivating environment, while her intuition and experience as a veteran teacher shines through everything she does. We have seen growth not only academically, but also in our daughter's confidence and enthusiasm for learning. 100% recommend for anyone who child needs tutoring!

Mrs. Reichman has a special gift for helping students in the areas they struggle, while also encouraging them to build on their strengths. She was the perfect fit for my son who has dyslexia and dysgraphia. She motivated him to go so much farther than he thought he could!

It is very rare that I write reviews on anyone or anything. The fact that I am currently writing a review on Mrs. Reichman is a testament to her strengths as a person, a teacher, and a role model. My son has never raved about any teacher or tutor as he has about Mrs. Reichman. As a result, he has grown as a student and a person under her most attentive tutelage, rising up to new challenges and surpassing his goals throughout the year. Her kindness and patience has helped my son grow into a self-confident student with the thirst and desire to constantly learn more. In terms of math, my son tells me, "I like how Mrs. Reichman teaches math because she explains it in different ways that help me understand when I ask her questions. I start from easy problems and slowly get to harder problems, but it's easy because she helps me step by step until I get good at it." Oftentimes, math is a hard topic to teach as a teacher, and even harder still to master as a student. Although my son finds math challenging, he still finds it enjoyable and excels at it because he appreciates the patience and the customized pacing and attention Mrs. Reichman gives him to allow him to succeed in this subject. For composition and writing, he tells me, "Mrs. Reichman gives me an assignment and lets me write anything I want about that topic. I get to be creative, so I can learn how to write in my own personal style and get better after she gives me her honest feedback." This open approach has helped my son excel in both writing and public speaking, giving him the free reign to be himself without fear of judgment or disapproval, allowing him to blossom into a confident student. I especially love the creative projects and methods she uses to help her students understand the context behind the literature or historical era they are studying. Her willingness to allow her students to learn by using their imagination and encouraging them to experience the world within the classroom, from science to literature, is so enriching for their developing minds. Her pursuit of learning is apparent in her lessons, always learning and teaching new and fun facts, imparting fascinating information to her students that allow them to marvel at the world around them. She has truly made an impression on my son and will always have a special place in our hearts.
